Urgent Appointments

The surgery currently operates Open Access surgery every morning Monday to Friday between 9.00 & 11.00am. An appointment is not required and all patients who turn up for this surgery will be seen by a doctor. If you feel your problem is particularly urgent, please bring this to the attention of the receptionist when you book in.

Afternoon surgeries are booked appointments only. However, a few appointment slots are reserved for genuine urgent cases that cannot wait until the following day. If you feel you need to be seen as an emergency in the afternoon please contact the surgery on 01792 650716. Please note that these appointments are not appropriate for routine work such as issuing of sick notes or repeat prescriptions.

Out of Hours

Between 6.30pm & 8.30am on Monday to Friday and all day at weekends and bank holidays emergency cover for our patients is provided by the Swansea Out of Hours Service. The service can be accessed by calling 0845 850 1362. Your call will initially be taken by NHS Direct who may be able to resolve matters for you. If a doctor is required they will forward your details and an on-call doctor will call you back. The doctor may be able to provide advice, arrange to see you in the GP Emergency Centre or visit you at home (if you are genuinely infirm and unable to attend the centre). This service is for urgent medical problems that cannot wait until the surgery is open and we would be grateful if you could use the emergency service sensibly.

NHS Direct

NHS Direct are available 24 hours a day to provide medical advice on 0845 4647. There is no charge made by NHS Direct for the advice they provide. This service may be helpful if you feel you need medical advice but do need or wish to see a doctor, or if you are unsure what to do about a medical problem. They may also be able to advise regarding dental problems.

Ambulances

If you feel you have a very urgent medical problem that cannot wait for medical attention then you should consider calling 999 for an ambulance. We ask that you use ambulances only for true emergency situations.

Accident & Emergency

There is a large Accident & Emergency Department at Morriston Hospital which is open 24 hours a day. There is also an Emergency Department at Singleton Hospital. These departments are aimed at dealing with emergency problems that you would not usually see your GP about (for example, traumatic injuries or sudden collapse), or urgent medical problems that cannot wait for medical attention. Before attending A&E we would ask you to consider whether your problem could more appropriately be dealt with by your GP, or the Out of Hours Service outside of surgery opening times.
